Practice your interview first
By www.topcareers.net | October 1, 2010
With an interview, you only have one chance to make that lasting impression. In an effort to boost your confidence, prepare for your interview before hand. Create a series of questions an employer may ask you. While it’s hard to know exactly what an interviewer will ask, there are ways to predict some questions. Listed below, we’ve compiled a list of popular employer questions.
- Will you tell me something about yourself?
An unprepared candidate may misunderstand the meaning of this question. Your interviewer doesn’t care about your Call of Duty addiction or your love for dogs; rather, he or she is asking for your qualifications. Prepare a 1-2 minute summary of your employee and educational history.
- Why do you feel this position is for you?
At this point, it is up to you to explain how you will benefit the company. Put together 1-3 examples of how you meet the job’s requirements. For example, if the employer is looking for a computer-savvy individual, explain your past achievements with computers.
- Where do you see yourself in five years?
When you hear this question, your first answer might be: I have no idea! However, employers are looking for individuals with long term goals. Here’s an example of what you could say: “If you and I decide this is a good fit, I want to come in and meet the daily expectations you set for me. Hopefully, this will lead to further opportunities in the future.”
